They will be supplying a contingency award for the 8th place finish of each event. aDP Rivet will be supplying sample packs to each of the participants of the 100-lap event as an added bonus. aDP Rivet has also sponsored laps in the 100-lap event. www.adprivet.com
We look forward to a long future with both of these new sponsors and thank them for their support. Both are excited about the return of the Tidewater Region, as we are, which will increase all of our programs in the future. |

June 20, 2008 Chuck Speigner
Tidewater AllStar Race Trucks are coming back!
The Tidewater AllStar Race Truck Series has been on hold for about 3 years due to an illness. Shortly after Chuck Speigner and company took over the region Chuck was diagnosed with Throat Cancer. They put everything into a holding pattern until all those issues could be resolved. In the late summer of 2006 Chuck underwent 10 sessions of Chemotherapy and 57 Radiation treatments. We are happy to report that Chuck is doing fine and as of the last check up, still Cancer free. It has taken an additional year plus for Chuck's continued recovery and we are now ready to go racing again.
With that behind us Chuck and his staff, Steve Head and Brian Moorehouse are busy putting together a 2009 season while looking at new ways to bring the ARTS Trucks back out in the numbers they used to be. Our goal for 2009 is 8 to 12 races and hopefully a North-South Shootout at Old Dominion Speedway in Northern Virginia.
There are many things in the works for the Tidewater Region that include a possible warm up race for another touring series. This will bring greater exposure for a series that is fun, competitive, and inexpensive to compete in.
As the months progress, stay tuned for the latest on what's happening.
We have arrange with Race Rap to again list AllStar Race Truck Series on their website a www.racerap.com. Once there at the top of the page click on tracks and scroll down to find AllStar Race Truck Series and a link to our page plus a page for messages. |

ANDY LINDEMAN GETS 3RD WIN
Andy Lindeman wins AllStar Race Truck Series feature event at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH on Saturday, June 14th. Gee Perry won Heat 1 and Greg Butler, 2008 Rookie leader, won Heat 2.
The AllStar Race Truck Series ran a 25-lap feature event. Chris Austill of Waterford, CT who drives the #07 sponsored by C & S Marine Service was on the pole with Mike Carrigg of South Bury, CT driving the #41 of Carrigg Motorsports on the outside. During the warm up laps Carrigg dropped down to the end of the outside line with Greg Butler, Jr. of East Hampton, CT driving the #85 sponsored by East Hampton Auto Parts moving into the outside pole position with the entire outside line moving up. At the drop of the green Butler took the lead with Chris Correll of Old Lyme, CT driving the #7 sponsored by Hooters and Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY driving the #3 sponsored by Thorpe Electric Supply Co & Dawson Towing following closely behind. Correll was behind Butler until lap 6 when Lindeman moved into 2nd position with Gee Perry of Granby, CT driving the #83 sponsored by F.E.B. Construction taking over 3rd and Correll falling into 4th. On lap 13 Lindeman took the lead away from Butler and on lap 15 Perry moved into 2nd with Butler falling into 3rd. On lap 16 the first caution flew when the left front rim broke on Perry’s truck resulting with him being knocked out of the feature. Rookie Matt Ferris of Patterson, NY driving the #48 sponsored by Trigger Construction, Inc. also pulled off the track and was sent to the pits due to mechanical problems. At the re-start on lap 17 Lindeman took the lead with Butler and Correll closely behind him. The caution flew for a 2nd time on lap 20 when Austill spun on the front stretch. This left a 5-lap shoot out to the end of the feature and a single file re-start. Andy quickly jumped out to a comfortable lead leaving a very close battle between Butler and Correll. On lap 22 Correll tried to make a move on the inside of Butler in turn 3 resulting in both truck simultaneously spinning out. Derrick Chriss of Averill Park, NY driving the #12 sponsored by Dan Engwer Wholesale Florist, Carrigg, and Austill managed to shoot around the outside of the spinning trucks to take over 2nd, 3rd, & 4th. Both Correll and Butler were able to keep going but were at the end of the pack and finished 5th & 6th. Lindeman took the checkered for his 3rd feature win in 2008. As per ARTS Rules, Lindeman’s next win will result in his engine being headed for a mandatory teardown. Chriss and Carrigg both scored their best personal finishes in the ARTS series. There were two 10-lap caution free heats ran. Austill started on the pole of the 1st heat with Perry winning. Carrigg started on the pole of the 2nd heat with Rookie Butler winning.
Greg Butler received the M & R Products Contingency Award and Gee Perry received the Capital Motorsports Contingency Award for this event.
Finishing order: Andy Lindeman, Derek Chriss, Mike Carrigg, Chris Austill, Chris Correll, Greg Butler, Tom Smith, Gee Perry, Matt Ferris. AllStar Race Truck Series is sad to report that Garry Hufton passed away over the weekend. Garry started as a crew member on Joe "Spanky" Merlino's #44 Modified at Flemington Speedway in the early 80's till the early 90's. In 96 Garry began working with the #44 East Coast Race Truck as crew chief which was owned by Bob & Debbie and was driven by Stan Polski, Mike Crispo, and Spanky Merlino. Garry once drove the #44 truck himself at Thompson International Speedway during the World Series. Garry was crew chief on the same truck when it was owned and driven by Eddie Class, #77. Throughout the years he helped many other race teams at the tracks such as Bill Cowan, Rick Gonzales, Bobby Luh, and Jeff Kot, to name a few. Garry was the recipient of the 2nd Racer of the Year Award. The last race that Garry attended was at Mountain Speedway in 2006. Garry will be greatly missed by all of the ARTS staff and racers. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his brothers; Jerry and Larry, and to all of his family and friends.
There will be a service held on Friday, June 13 from 6pm to 8pm at Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, NJ. http://www.thedailyjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080611/OBITUARIES/806110331/1023

The AllStar Race Truck Series ran a 30-lap feature event. Chris Austill of Waterford, CT who drives the #07 sponsored by C & S Marine Service was on the pole with Bill Cowan of Branchville, NJ driving the Willco Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, & Heating #02 next to him. At the drop of the green Cowan took the lead but with a tight pack the caution flew a few times in the early laps sending Cowan, Greg Butler of East Hampton, CT driving the East Hampton Auto Parts #85, and Derek Chriss of Averill Park, NY driving the Dan Engwer Wholesale Florist #12 off the track. Cowan and Butler returned but Chriss was out. After the caution the defending Champion Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY driving the Thorpe Electric Supply Co & Dawson Towing #3 jumped to the lead with last race winner Gee Perry of Granby, CT driving the FEB Construction #83 close behind. While these 2 were pulling a little bit away from the field, Perry tried everything he could, going to the inside, the outside, but couldn't get around Lindeman. The real battle of the night was between Chris Correll of Old Lyme, CT driving the Hooters #7 and Scott Gregory of Westbrook, CT driving the Foxwoods Resort Casino #94 who went side by side for almost the entire feature swapping position several times until Gregory finally cleared Correll and finished 3rd with Correll finishing 4th. Gee Perry of Granby, CT driving the #83 sponsored by FEB Construction won the AllStar Race Truck Series feature event at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH on Saturday, May 10th. Chris Austill of Waterford, CT driving the #07 sponsored by C & S Marine Service started on the pole. Starting next to him was Bill Cowan of Branchville, NJ driving the #02 sponsored by Willco Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, & Heating. At the drop of the green flag Austill was slow getting up to speed allowing Scott Gregory of Westbrook, CT driving the #94 sponsored by MGM Grand At Foxwoods and Chris Correll of Quaker Hill, CT driving the #7 sponsored by Hooters America to shoot through to the front with Perry tagging along in a very close 3rd making it a very exciting start diving into turn 1. The aftermath of that start was collecting defending Points Champion Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY driving the #3 sponsored by Thorpe Electric Supply Co & Dawson Towing spinning in turn 1 after he hit the back end of Derek Chriss of Averill Park, NY driving the #12 sponsored by Dan Engwer Wholesale Florist. Lindeman would frop out a few laps later with a punctured radiator. Meanwhile the battle was on between Gregory, Correll, and Perry. By lap 3 Perry had claimed 2nd and the hunt was on to run down Gregory. Correll, not to be denied, stuck to Perry like glue as they chased down Gregory. By lap 12, Perry proved his superiority and passed Gregory to hold off all charges to the end. Correll never let up pressure on Gregory and scooted by him on the last lap claiming 2nd at the line. Chriss had a good night holding onto 4th. Rookie Greg Butler of East Hampton, CT driving the #85 sponsored by East Hampton Auto Parts is proving to be a up and coming racer in ARTS finishing 5th after starting 10th in his 2nd ARTS event and the !st time racing the truck at Monadnock.
